Postpartum Doula Support
Ask any person/family who has invested in a postpartum doula – and they will tell you it was one of the best decisions and investments they’ve ever made. I’m here with you to make sure you’re taken care of for what comes next.
Postpartum support looks and feels different for each person who seeks the support. I offer my clients a non-judgmental approach, offering genuine support in many different ways in an effort to create a safe, calming, and healing environment, meeting them where they are at the time of each visit. Services typically involve:
Offering care for the birthing person by prioritizing rest, healing, and pain management while recuperating from birth
Preparation of nutritious food (can be made for just a postpartum person or an entire family)
Drawing herbal baths
Preparing sitz baths (to help heal uterus and perineum)
Helping to facilitate your natural healing process in other ways.
Providing newborn care so the parent(s) may practice self-care, nap, or spend time with other children
Providing evidence-based educational resources and referrals for newborn, infancy, along with Postpartum care providers (therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, lactation consultants, etc.).
Supporting and offering care for the partner (if present) in the ways in which they feel necessary
Lactation education and bottle feeding support (along with preparation, pumping support, and guidance)
Ordering groceries, running errands, doing light housework (laundry for the baby/birthing person) to take some of the everyday pressures off
Keeping a watchful eye on baby’s development and progress, and reporting to parent(s) if anything unusual is noticed
Postpartum people are often blood and yin deficient; comforting, nourishing food can help rebuild blood and yin so that the birthing person can restore and have enough fluids. As your postpartum doula, I care for the birthing person first and then take care of other needs as required/asked. This helps to create space for the family to bond with their new addition.
Postpartum support services are offered by the hour and can be designed to fit the needs of each individual family.
